ANAHEIM , Calif. (Jan. 28, 2012) — runDisney added some extra pixie dust to the inaugural Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Resort, marking the first time participants ran through Disneyland as part of a runDisney social media meet-up on Jan. 28, 2012.

Participants were selected via the Disney Parks Blog, Disney Sports’ Twitter handle and runDisney Facebook page.

Official runDisney training consultant Jeff Galloway led the group of 30 on a two-mile run through Disneyland and California Adventure, passing iconic attractions such as Sleeping Beauty Castle, Paradise Pier at California Adventure and The Matterhorn Bobsleds along the way.

Upon completing the run-walk-run training, Galloway was joined by Megyn Price, star of the hit TV sitcom “Rules of Engagement.” Price, who also ran in the 2011 Disneyland Half Marathon, shared her excitement about the new women-focused weekend of runDisney events with the crowd.

Disneyland Show Director Robin Throwbridge stepped on stage with Minnie Mouse to share some runDisney entertainment magic. Throwbridge discussed the theming that sets runDisney events apart from typical endurance races.

The behind the scenes sneak peak did not end there. Meet-up participants had the exclusive opportunity to tour the Dream Suite before the park opened.
