Nation’s Elite Recruits Showcasing Skills at AAU Boys Basketball Championships

The nation’s top youth players are showcasing their skills as teams from across the country compete for an AAU National Championship title.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (July 26, 2012) — The nation’s elite prep basketball players are showcasing their skills at the Amateur Athletic Union’s Basketball National Championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.

The Boys Basketball National Championships began July 10 and continue through Aug. 4. Dozens of college basketball coaches, such as Rick Pitino and John Calipari, are on hand for the championships’ marquee event, the 11th Grade Boys Gold Super Showcase, which features highly-coveted recruits from the nation’s top AAU teams.

This year’s competition features teams such as:

  • The Dallas-based Texas Titans, with the ESPN Top 100’s No. 2 player in the country, Julius Randle, and No. 19 Matt Jones, who is verbally committed to Duke.
  • The Houston Defenders, with two of the top 10 prep players in the nation in twin package Andrew and Aaron Harrison.
  • The GA Stars, with No. 51-ranked Jarquez Smith, 2014’s No. 51 recruit Tadric Jackson, and A.J. Davis, Jr., son of former NBA player Antonio Davis.
  • Orlando’s Each 1 Teach 1 team, sponsored by New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire, with Florida’s 2012 Mr. Basketball and No. 18-ranked Joel Berry.
