Olympic Track & Field Stars Celebrate Success and Train at Disney

Aries Merritt, Christian Taylor, Janay DeLoach, Kellie Wells and Ashton Eaton honored as Grand Marshals in Magic Kingdom parade; Members of team train at ESPN Wide World of Sports

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2012) – Olympic track & field medalists Aries Merritt, Christian Taylor, Janay DeLoach, Kellie Wells and Ashton Eaton were honored as Grand Marshals of the Magic Kingdom’s “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade Monday at Walt Disney World Resort. 

The five medalists and other members of the 2012 USA Track & Field (USATF) Olympic squad celebrated their success from this summer’s London Olympic Games at Disney following the USATF Annual Meeting in Daytona Beach, Fla. The team also visited ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to train with legendary track coach Brooks Johnson.

The parade’s Grand Marshals own a total of five medals between them. Eaton (decathlon), Merritt (110 meter hurdles) and Taylor (triple jump) each earned gold medals for their Olympic performances. DeLoach won a bronze medal in the long jump and Wells won bronze in the 100 meter hurdles.
