LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Oct. 16, 2014) – Brazilian basketball champion Flamengo trained at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex  in preparation for their preseason exhibition matchup with the Orlando Magic on Oct. 15 at Amway Arena.

Flamengo plays its home games in Rio de Janeiro and is the first Latin American team to embark on an NBA preseason tour. Last season, Flamengo claimed the Brazilian National League title, the FIBA Americas League continental title, and their 40th ‘State’ championship. The team is led by Brazilian basketball legend and team captain Marcelinho Machado and the team recently signed former NBA player Walter Herrmann, who played parts of four seasons with the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Bobcats.

Flamengo joined Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa as the three top international teams invited to the U.S. and Canada for nine preseason games against NBA teams. The nine games were the most ever played by international teams on North American soil during one preseason.
