Athletes and Coaches Available to Media Following Orlando Classic Shootarounds on Wednesday at Disney

Willie Carmichael (Apopka), Derek Reese (Orlando) and Josh Heath (Tampa) among Central Florida athletes competing in premier college basketball tournament

Teams competing in the ninth annual Orlando Classic, one of the premier Thanksgiving weekend Division I college basketball tournaments in the nation, will hold shootarounds between 9 a.m. and 4:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and make players and coaches available to the media immediately after scheduled shootarounds.

Among the Central Florida athletes competing in the Orlando Classic is Tennessee freshman Willie Carmichael (Apopka, Fla.), last season’s 7A State Player of the Year, along with Tennessee junior Derek Reese (Orlando, Fla.) and Georgia Tech sophomore Josh Heath (Tampa, Fla.), son of former South Florida Bulls coach Stan Heath.

Tennessee players and coaches are the only team competing in the tournament not available to media at any time during Wednesday’s shootarounds.

Shootarounds will take place at HP Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Players and coaches will only be available immediately following each team’s shootaround. The schedule is below:

9 a.m. – 9:55 a.m.              Santa Clara (shootaround closed to media, interviews available by request)
10 a.m. – 10:55 a.m.          No practice
11 a.m. – 11:55 a.m.          Rider (open to media)
12 p.m. – 12:55 p.m.          Rhode Island (open to media)
1 p.m. – 1:55 p.m.              Michigan State (shootaround closed to media, interviews available by request)
2 p.m. – 2:55 p.m.              Kansas (shootaround closed to media, interviews available by request)
3 p.m. – 3:55 p.m.              Marquette (shootaround closed to media, interviews available by request)
4 p.m. – 4:55 p.m.              Georgia Tech (open last 10 minutes, interviews available by request)

All interviews must be coordinated through Charley Green, Cody Norman and school SID staff at least one hour before scheduled team shootarounds. Interviews will be conducted courtside. There is no formal press conference and this will be the only official media availability prior to the tournament (Nov. 27, 28, and 30).

Media credentials will be available for pickup prior to the start of each game at the credential tent outside the main gate at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
