More than 29,000 runners from across the nation and 28 countries are expected to converge in Southern California to celebrate the 10th annual Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna.  The celebration begins Thursday and culminates Sunday with the half marathon through Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland Park, the streets of Anaheim and Angel Stadium.  The highlight will be a special ticketed Disneyland Half Marathon 10th Annual party held Thursday evening that gives guests access to select attractions, Disney entertainment and character meet & greets in Disneyland Park West Side.  As the event coincides with Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration, the party will offer runners exclusive viewing of Disneyland’s “Paint the Night” Parade which is part of the 60th anniversary celebration.

All half marathon finishers will earn a unique 10th annual medal to commemorate the occasion. There are expected to be 436 “legacy’’ runners who will have run in all 10 Disneyland Half Marathons since the inaugural race in 2006.

In addition to the half marathon, the weekend of events also includes a 5K, 10K, kids’ races, pasta party and health and fitness expo. Last year, Nick Arciniaga, 31, from Flagstaff, Ariz., won the Disneyland Half Marathon, finishing in 1:07:48.  Jennifer Berry, 33, of Denver, Colo., captured the women’s title, finishing with a time of 1:23:33, after winning the Disneyland 10K the previous day.

The half marathon starts at 5:30 am on Sunday, September 6.
