Thunder Academy U11 baseball team wore pink uniforms, brought awareness to breast cancer research while competing at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

The Thunder Academy U11 baseball team from Broomfield, Colo. brought its game and philanthropic spirit to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in efforts to support breast cancer research. Competing in the Disney Sun and Surf Baseball Bash over Memorial Day Weekend, Thunder Academy wore all-pink uniforms during the weekend tournament. When not playing baseball, the team dedicates its time to helping fund research for breast cancer, which has touched family members and friends of the players.

The team has annually held a benefit baseball tournament in Broomfield, and last year, the team raised $20,000 for breast cancer research. Thunder Academy was one of 30 teams participating in the Disney Sun and Surf Baseball Bash, an annual youth baseball tournament that kicks off the summer season. In addition to the tournament, teams get to enjoy a splash-filled nighttime party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.
