Four Florida teams claim national championships at 61st Pop Warner Super Bowl at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

Florida youth football teams from Miami, Palm Beach, Tampa and Ocoee are taking home new hardware for their respective trophy cases after they earned national championships over the weekend at the 61st Pop Warner Super Bowl at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

Other teams claiming championships include the Division I Varsity North West Raiders (Philadelphia, PA) and the Division II Junior Pee Wee Waianae Tigers (Oahu, Hawaii).

The 14-0 Raiders captured their Pop Warner-record fourth consecutive national championship with a 33-12 win over the Pompano Beach Chiefs (Pompano Beach, FL), becoming the first team in Pop Warner Super Bowl history to record four consecutive national championships (2017, 2016, 2015, 2014).

Meanwhile, the Tigers posted a 16-8 win over Creeks Outlaws (Jacksonville, FL), becoming the first team from the state of Hawaii to claim a Pop Warner national championship.

Sixty-four football teams from around the nation participated in the week-long national competition held annually at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

National champions were crowned in five divisions based on age and weight – Jr. Pee Wee (ages 8-11), Pee Wee (ages 9-12), Jr. Varsity (ages 10-13), Varsity (ages 12-15) and Unlimited (11-14, 105-lb. minimum).

Championship games took place on Friday and Saturday, and nine teams emerged victoriously.

Division I Junior Pee Wee:

Virginia Beach Mustangs (Virginia Beach, VA) beat Florida City Razorbacks (Miami, FL), 25-14 

Division I Pee Wee:

Palmetto Raiders (Miami, FL) beat Virginia Beach Mustangs (Virginia Beach, VA), 20-14

Division I Junior Varsity:

North Philadelphia Aztecs (Philadelphia, PA) beat North Raleigh Bulldogs (Raleigh, NC), 28-0

Division I Varsity:

Northwest Raiders (Philadelphia, PA) beat Pompano Beach Chiefs (Pompano Beach, FL), 33-12

Unlimited Division:

Ocoee Bulldogs (Ocoee, FL) and Bergen County Stars (Bergen County, NJ) are co-champions

Division II Junior Pee Wee:

Waianae Tigers (Oahu, HI) beat Creeks Outlaws (Jacksonville, FL), 16-8

Division II Pee Wee:

Palm Beach Gardens Gators (Palm Beach, FL) beat Point Loma Pointers (San Diego, CA), 20-14

Division II Junior Varsity:

Westchase Colts (Tampa, FL) beat West Haven Seahawks (West Haven, CT), 28-0

More than 70 percent of active NFL players got their starts competing on Pop Warner teams across the country, including Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos) and eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals).
