The Dayton Flyers came to the ESPN Events Invitational tournament with something to prove, and they left with the trophy. And that’s what you call a successful business trip at Walt Disney World Resort!

They claimed the ESPN Events Invitational tournament victory beating Belmont 63-61 in the championship game at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Tournament Bullet Points:

Dayton stunned No. 4 Kansas, 74-73, in the ESPN Events Invitational semifinals.

No. 4 Kansas beat Iona 96-83 in the first meeting between Hall of Fame coaches Bill Self (Kansas) and Rick Pitino (Iona).

No. 10 Alabama defeated Miami 96-64 in the fifth-place game.

The University of Miami made the most out of its trip to the Orlando-area.

On a day off, the Canes experienced many attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort including Slinky Dog Dash which is faster than the players expected. “What surprised me the most was the amount of twists and turns,” Miami guard Jordan Miller said. “I think it was fun and I loved the change of speeds.”
