Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Reaches All-Time High with Registered Runners

More than 22,000 runners make this race weekend one of the country’s largest women’s specific endurance events

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2011) — A record number of runners will slip off their glass slippers and step into running shoes for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend presented by Lady Foot Locker at Walt Disney Resort, Feb. 25 – 27.

A record 22,000 runners, including nearly 17,000 for the half marathon – 4,000 more than one year ago – are registered for one of the largest women-specific endurance events in the country. Participants from 50 states and 21 countries are all running for the coveted Princess tiara medal.

Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend features events for the entire family – the Beauty & the Beast Royal Family 5K and kid’s races on Saturday and the 13.1 mile half marathon taking runners through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot on Sunday.

In addition Disney’s Fit For a Princess Expo on Friday and Saturday at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex that features running merchandise, equipment and running-related seminars by leading authorities such as renowned marathon trainer Jeff Galloway, the official training consultant for runDisney.

Disney’s Princess Half Marathon is the second of four signature runDisney events. Other races include Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January, the Disneyland Half Marathon on Sept. 4 and Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon on Oct. 29.
