LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. – Nearly 3,000 youth soccer players from around the world competed at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex July 16-21 in one of America’s largest international youth soccer tournaments, the Disney Cup International.

The Disney Cup International featured players between the ages of 9 and 19 representing more than 200 teams – 100 of those teams from 19 countries outside the US, such as Venezuela and Norway.

Teams participated in an opening celebration at Animal Kingdom Park on Sunday with a DJ dance party, food and access to rides before kicking off the week-long tournament on Monday. Many of last year’s tournament winners are back to defend their titles, including the Chivas SC (Texas), Miami Stars (Florida) and Esporte Clube Pinheiros (Brazil) teams.

The Disney Cup International championship games for each age division were Saturday with three finals broadcast live on ESPN3. Results can be found at events.gotsport.com/events/?eventid=19813. And for more information, visit www.disneycupsoccer.com.
