Joe Mauer, A.J. Pierzynski, Antonio Tarver, Derrick Brooks and David Price are competing Thursday and Friday in the pro-am division of the PGA Tour’s 42nd Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.

Pierzynski (Chicago White Sox): Talked about being a free-agent this offseason and which teams might be in the running to land the all-star catcher.

Price (Tampa Bay Rays): Is leading the pro-am after the first round with a 12-under 60 that factors in his handicap and talked about being a finalist for the Cy Young Award.

Tarver (former light-heavyweight champion of the world): Talked about his desire to keep fighting in hopes of winning another world title.

Mauer (Minnesota Twins): The all-star talked about his offseason priorities, including staying healthy during the season and his upcoming wedding.

Brooks (ex-Tampa Bay Bucs star): Talked about the heated race for this year’s NFL Rookie of the Year race and who he thinks will ultimately win the award.

The star players are among a group of sports celebs competing in the season-ending event. Other celebs in the field include Tampa Bay Rays stars James Shields and Carlos Pena, former Green Bay Packers star Ryan Longwell, former Major League Baseball player Fred “Crime Dog” McGriff, Aaron Rowand (ex-Giants outfielder), former MLB All-Star Heathcliff Slocumb, and former Miami Dolphins WR Mark Duper. The two-day pro-am is Thursday and Friday on Disney’s Palm and Magnolia courses.
