Montreal Wins Disney Pro Soccer Classic Title

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (February 23, 2013) — The Montreal Impact edged the Columbus Crew 1-0 to capture the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic title on Saturday night at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. After a slow first half, Impact striker Justin Mapp managed to slip past the Crew’s defense to score Montreal’s game-winning goal in the 54th minute.

In the consolation games, D.C. United defeated Philadelphia Union 2-0.  Sporting Kansas City’s Claudio Bieler scored the matches’ only goal in the 23rd minute to give his team a 1-0 win over Toronto FC.

Orlando City Soccer Club got its first win with a 2-0 shutout over the rival Tampa Bay Rowdies. Orlando City’s Jamie Watson scored the matches’ first goal in 20 seconds on a penalty kick, then added a Dennis Chin goal in the second half to seal the win.
