LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (March 4, 2015) – The Atlanta Braves began their 2015 spring training game schedule with an 8-2 loss against the New York Mets on Wednesday, March 4 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Newcomers A.J. Pierzynski (C) and Johnny Gomes (OF) saw their first action in a Braves uniform while All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman suited up for his sixth Major League spring training at Walt Disney World Resort.

Pierzynski was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Braves starter Wandy Rodriguez, who is fighting for the final spot in the rotation, gave up one run, two hits and walked two in one inning of work. Mets catcher Johnny Monell hit a three-run home run and left fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 4-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
