Tampa Bay Area Team Wins in FIMBA World Maxibasketball Championship Finals at Walt Disney World Resort

A Tampa Bay area team won the championship game in their division this weekend in the FIMBA Maxibasketball Championship at Walt Disney World Resort. The USA 50-and-over team beat the Italy 50-and-over team Sunday afternoon after trailing behind for the first three quarters of the game.  Lead scorer Jerry Woodka, former Orlando Magic player, Greg Kite, and the rest of the team from Tampa wore Italy down in the final 15 minutes of the game to take the lead and win 67 to 63.

The winning team was one of five from the Tampa Bay area and among 200 squads from around the world, some featuring former NBA stars, competing in the 13th FIMBA World Maxibasketball Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.

 The event featured teams from 36 countries around the world competing in the 11-day tournament in various age groups, including 50-over, 60-over and 70-over.
