Maryland Wins the 2019 Orlando Invitational

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., (Dec. 1, 2019) – Maryland claimed the championship in the 2019 Orlando Invitational, beating out Marquette 84-63 in the final on Sunday afternoon. Senior Anthony Cowan Jr., who scored 72 points in three games, was honored as this year’s tournament MVP.

Reflecting on the win, Maryland Head Coach Mark Trukgeon said, ““I just knew the guys were going to step up. They didn’t really need a pregame speech; I knew our guys were going to be locked in today.”

The three-day annual tournament took place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World Resort. Other NCAA teams who competed include Davidson, Fairfield, Harvard, Marquette, Temple, Texas A&M and USC.
