Launch of ESPN’s Immersive Fifty/50 World Honors 50 Years of Title IX

Filed in: Disney Sports, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

To  commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic Title IX law that protects women from discrimination in sports, ESPN launched Fifty/50, a virtual world that celebrates the 50 years of Title IX through special content, watch/listen parties, guest speakers and virtual games throughout the event’s two-week run.

The Fifty/50 World is just one way that ESPN is diving into the world of immersive digital content. Not only is the world interactive for users to explore, but its 3D design and specially curated content make it the destination for feeling inspired and educated as they reflect on all that has been accomplished over the past 50 years.

Programming in Fifty/50 amplifies the stories of strong women who were part of Title IX’s history and those who continue to drive the movement forward today. Content in Fifty/50 World will be shared with viewers now through June 30, with programming beginning at 1pm ET daily.

Fans can expect dynamic and empowering content including a Fifty50 x Special Olympics discussion featuring Loretta Claiborne and Novie Craven, A Love Letter to Black Women, Julie Foudy’s Laughter Permitted Podcast, 144: The Power of the WNBA and more.

As ESPN’s first interactive virtual event, all of the programming takes place inside Fifty/50 World’s virtual ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. At the real-life ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, content from Fifty/50 World will be featured on digital screens throughout the complex so that guests can be fully immersed in the history and celebration of Title IX via their mobile devices.
